You begin the day with a visit to the charming and authentic town of Angkor Ban, where you’ll get a glimpse of daily life in rural Cambodia. Start with a visit to the local pagoda for a special blessing ceremony by the monks, followed by a visit to a local family’s home to learn about their way of life. Then continue through the village to the local school, where you’ll step into a classroom and experience a typical school day alongside the children.
Later, the ship sails towards Phnom Penh and docks at the port. In the afternoon, local cyclo drivers will be waiting to take you on a guided city tour. Ride along the riverfront to the Royal Palace, where you’ll enjoy a leisurely walk through the palace grounds and gardens, with time to explore the Throne Hall and Moonlight Pavilion. Crossing into the second section of the complex, you’ll pass impressive stupas and spirit houses on the way to the famous Silver Pagoda, home to Cambodia’s Emerald Buddha and the diamond-encrusted Maitreya Buddha.
After a short break, your cyclo ride continues to the National Museum, which holds the largest collection of pre-Angkorian and Angkorian artifacts in the country. This visit offers an insightful look into Cambodia’s rich history and the legacy of the Khmer Empire.
The ship docks in Phnom Penh overnight.

Day 4: Saturday : Phnom Penh
This morning, a private motor coach takes you on a scenic 45-minute drive from the ship to Choeung Ek, the Killing Fields made widely known by the film of the same name, and a site central to the darkest chapter of Cambodia’s history. Here, you’ll have time to walk through the fields, visit the small museum and the Memorial Stupa, and learn more about the atrocities committed under the Khmer Rouge regime. On the return drive to Phnom Penh, you’ll stop at Tuol Sleng, also known as S-21, a former school that was converted into a prison and torture center by the Khmer Rouge.
This afternoon is free for you to explore the vibrant city of Phnom Penh at your leisure.
In the evening, enjoy onboard entertainment before dinner, with a cultural performance featuring Apsara — Cambodia’s national dance — along with a selection of traditional folk dances.
Early Sunday morning, the Mekong Princess sails towards the Cambodia-Vietnam border to complete formalities.
Meals : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5 : Sunday : Border Crossing – Hong Ngu – Gieng Island
This morning, after clearing immigration formalities for Vietnam, you’ll visit the local island village of Hong Ngu, near the Vietnam-Cambodia border. This village is known for producing the traditional Khmer scarves that are widely exported to Cambodia. As you explore, you’ll see the weaving process firsthand beneath several of the stilted homes. Some villagers are also skilled embroidery artists, and you’ll find their intricate work displayed around the village.
Hong Ngu is still relatively untouched by tourism, and many locals had rarely seen western visitors before the Mekong Princess began visiting. You’ll find them especially friendly and welcoming. During your time here, you’ll also visit a local temple dedicated to Hoa Hao, a unique religion founded in this region of Vietnam.
In the afternoon, you’ll board sampans for a trip to Gieng Island. After a short walk through the local sampan village — where families build these boats by hand — you’ll cruise along a narrow canal to explore the lush mango gardens lining the riverbanks. To round off the visit, you’ll hop on a “xe loi,” a traditional motor trishaw, for a ride through the island to visit the Phanxico Monastery.
The ship sails to Hoa An and anchors overnight.

HOA AN VILLAGE – CAN THO

Your first stop is at the flower gardens, where you’ll see a variety of blooms and learn how the locals grow and care for them. Afterwards, enjoy a short walk to a local home for a chat with the host about daily life in the village.
After a brief break, hop on a motor trishaw to visit another village nearby. Here, you’ll stop at homes where families make Vietnam’s iconic conical hats. Spend some time with them, learn about the craft, and even try your hand at it if you like. Enjoy a relaxed walk through the village, passing rice fields and fruit trees, with stops at a few more local homes along the way.
In the afternoon, the ship sails through a lesser-visited stretch of the Mekong Delta on the way to Can Tho, also known as Tay Do — the capital of the Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, take a short guided city tour, including a visit to the Zihuang Pagoda (Chua Ong), and enjoy a vibrant welcome with traditional unicorn dances. You’ll have free time to explore the city on your own before returning to the ship for dinner. The vessel remains docked in Can Tho overnight.

Day 7 : Tuesday : Can Tho – Ben Tre
This morning, before breakfast, you’ll board sampans for a cruise through the lively Cai Rang floating market near Can Tho. Your sampan will weave between the many boats that gather here each morning to trade fresh produce and daily essentials for the people of the Mekong Delta. As you drift through the market, there will be plenty of chances to snap some great photos while enjoying fresh fruit and the local “anti-aging drink” — fresh coconut water. Before heading back to the ship for breakfast, you’ll stop at a local noodle factory to see the fascinating process of how traditional noodles are made.
After port formalities are completed, the ship departs Ninh Kieu Wharf in Can Tho and sails downstream along the Bassac River. You’ll pass through the Tra On rivulet mouth, Nicolai Canal, Mang Thit Canal, Cho Lach rivulet mouth, and back onto the Mekong River. Watch how the candy is produced, then enjoy a walk through the village to visit an orchard, where you’ll see a variety of native Vietnamese fruits growing at different stages of ripeness. After a fresh fruit tasting, you’ll continue to a nearby pier to board small local boats for a peaceful cruise through the narrow creeks shaded by dense Nipah palms, before returning to the ship.
Later, the ship sails through the Mighty Mekong, continuing along the Cho Gao Canal, Vam Co River, Nuoc Man Canal, Soai Rap River, and finally the Saigon River.
